Daily Prayers and Readings from Holy Trinity, Corfu.

Please include in your prayers:
- the economic situation in Greece
- the crisis in Syria - for wisdom and compassion.
- the millions of displaced people in the Ukraine.
- the refugees and the European response to their needs
A special prayer for the UK at this time

Eternal God, Light of the nations,
in Christ you make all things new:
guide our nation in the coming days through the inspiration of your Spirit,
that understanding may put an end to discord and all bitterness.
Give us grace to rebuild bonds of trust
that together we may work for the dignity and flourishing of all;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thursday: Psalms 53, 54; Matthew 15.21-28
Questions for reflection based on Matthew:
  • How do you react to the experience of the Canaanite woman? How does Jesus react?
  • There are no boundaries to God’s love. If there anyone or group that you can think of who would be surprised to know this? Pray for them today.
  • What verse speaks to you today? Repeat it slowly and allow the Holy Spirit to speak through it.

  1. It sounds like Jesus allowed the woman to change his mind about helping her. Echoes of the persistent woman before the judge. (Luke 18). Reminds us that Jesus came for all the world, faith in him as Savior, not race, colour or creed is the key.

    1. Yes - I think that too - and it is wonderful (and somehow a little surprising) that Jesus engaged with openness with those he came across and allowed His ministry to be shaped by them. Quite amazing when we think of who he is. A lesson for us all to keep our spiritual eyes and ears wide open :)
