Daily Prayers and Readings from Holy Trinity, Corfu.

Please include in your prayers:
- the economic situation in Greece
- the crisis in Syria - for wisdom and compassion.
- the millions of displaced people in the Ukraine.
- the refugees and the European response to their needs
A special prayer for the UK at this time

Eternal God, Light of the nations,
in Christ you make all things new:
guide our nation in the coming days through the inspiration of your Spirit,
that understanding may put an end to discord and all bitterness.
Give us grace to rebuild bonds of trust
that together we may work for the dignity and flourishing of all;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Tuesday 12/1: Psalms 8, 9; Matthew 21.18-32 Questions for reflection based on Matthew:
  • Jesus in confrontational mode!! What is the source of his frustration with those who question him?
  • The fig tree is often taken as an acted parable for the bareness of the Jewish religious practices of the time (‘early figs’ would have been expected around April). What fruit were they failing to bare? Is there fruit we should be seeing in our church life that is missing? If so, share it today.
  • What verse speaks to you today? Repeat it slowly and allow the Holy Spirit to speak through it.
