Daily Prayers and Readings from Holy Trinity, Corfu.

Please include in your prayers:
- the economic situation in Greece
- the crisis in Syria - for wisdom and compassion.
- the millions of displaced people in the Ukraine.
- the refugees and the European response to their needs
A special prayer for the UK at this time

Eternal God, Light of the nations,
in Christ you make all things new:
guide our nation in the coming days through the inspiration of your Spirit,
that understanding may put an end to discord and all bitterness.
Give us grace to rebuild bonds of trust
that together we may work for the dignity and flourishing of all;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thursday 14/1: Psalms21, 24; Matthew 22.1-14 Questions for reflection based on Matthew:
  • A frightening parable about the consequences of the Jewish authority’s decisions for them. Why do you think Jesus uses such violent imagery?
  • The “wedding garment” is considered by many to be love. Faith may enable the invitation to be accepted to the banquet but only love prepares us to be there. Why is this?
  • What verse speaks to you today? Repeat it slowly and allow the Holy Spirit to speak through it.
