Daily Prayers and Readings from Holy Trinity, Corfu.

Please include in your prayers:
- the economic situation in Greece
- the crisis in Syria - for wisdom and compassion.
- the millions of displaced people in the Ukraine.
- the refugees and the European response to their needs
A special prayer for the UK at this time

Eternal God, Light of the nations,
in Christ you make all things new:
guide our nation in the coming days through the inspiration of your Spirit,
that understanding may put an end to discord and all bitterness.
Give us grace to rebuild bonds of trust
that together we may work for the dignity and flourishing of all;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Monday, 21/12: Psalms 121,122, 123; Matthew 19.1-12 Questions for reflection based on Matthew:
·      What reason does Jesus give for Moses teaching?
·      Ask the Holy Spirit to show you where you still carry a hardness of heart in your relationships. How could Jesus’s way of Grace change that situation?
What verse speaks to you today? Repeat it slowly and allow the Holy Spirit to speak through it.

  1. Hardness of heart " = Stubboness. It's hard to be the first to say sorry, when things have gone wrong in a relationship. Perhaps we should do this more often, even (especially? ) when we don't think it's 'our fault'. "Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbour, for we are all members of one body. ‘In your anger do not sin’ : do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.

    Ephesians 4:25-27 NIVUK

  3. Psalm 127 "Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labour in vain."
We must stay steadfast in the power of the Lord over anything that may appear to be attack.
