Please include in your prayers:
- the economic situation in Greece
- the crisis in Syria - for wisdom and compassion.
- the millions of displaced people in the Ukraine.
- the refugees and the European response to their needs
A special prayer for the UK at this time

Eternal God, Light of the nations,
in Christ you make all things new:
guide our nation in the coming days through the inspiration of your Spirit,
that understanding may put an end to discord and all bitterness.
Give us grace to rebuild bonds of trust
that together we may work for the dignity and flourishing of all;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Monday 28/12: Psalms 36, 146; Matthew 2.13-18 Questions for reflection based on Matthew:

·      Today is Feast of the Holy Innocents. When we read of Herod’s (Father of the one who took John the Baptists life) anger it is hard to believe that someone can act like this. Do you think there is a connection between father and son?

·      Pray for those who have learned violence and fear from their families. Ask that the light of Christ would break the cycle and bring release and transformation.
What verse speaks to you today? Repeat it slowly and allow the Holy Spirit to speak through it.

  1. And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, ‘The Lord , the Lord , the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.’
    Exodus 34:6-7 NIVUK
    - Parents' life styles and life choices can a profound effect on children & grandchildren. When working in children's services I saw how hard it is to break the vicious cycle of drink/drugs/abuse etc. What legacy are we passing on to our families?
